General Submission Guidelines
The Avon Review (TAR) is looking for polished, quality work in literary fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and art. We accept pieces year-round.
Please send your submissions as a Word document or a PDF.
We accept submissions in more than one genre at a time.
Please include a third-person bio in your cover letter.
We do accept simultaneous submissions. However, please note in your cover letter if you are submitting your piece(s) elsewhere, and contact us if they are accepted elsewhere.
Response for submissions is typically around two months.
We only accept unpublished work.
We do not accept submissions of AI-generated work. If a submission is discovered or identified as AI-generated, it will be automatically rejected and the author will no longer be welcome to submit in the future. We reserve the right to withdraw acceptances from any work found to be AI-generated, including post-publication.
We are particularly interested in work from historically marginalized communities, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, and artists of color; LGBTQIA+ artists; working-class artists; immigrant and migrant artists; religious and spiritual minorities; and writers whose voices have been pushed to the margins of literary and cultural spaces.
At this time, The Avon Review does not accept screenplays, comics, or translations.
